HIT 2500 Health Ethics: Information Security and Privacy

The lack of security of health information is among the leading cause of health breaches and other unethical behavior within today’s healthcare industry. This course is designed to help healthcare organizations and health professionals implement strategies to better secure health data while maintaining HIPPA compliance. Topics of discussion will include privacy and security of health information, HIPPA security risk assessment in health information technology (HIT), HIPPA Security Rule, HIPPA violations in HIT, HITECH requirements, and ethical dilemmas encountered by HIT/HIM professionals.
