PAS 5301 Physician Assistant Medical Practice I

This course series teaches the history of the profession and introduces the physician assistant professional organizations. Foundational knowledge of health care delivery systems, public health, and interprofessional practice are discussed. The ethical, regulatory and political factors impacting the physician assistant profession are explored. Emphasis is placed on developing a commitment to ethical principles, professionalism, interprofessional collaboration and economic stewardship in daily clinical practice and clinical decision making. Focus is placed on fostering cultural humility by working with diverse and vulnerable populations in the local community. (Course is correlated with PAS 5302, 5303, and 5304.)
