Academic Probation and Program Suspension

Each student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to remain in academic “good standing.” If the cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 after the completion of twelve (12) hours, the student will be placed on academic probation for the next twelve (12) hours. Upon gaining the required minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, the student will be again in “good standing.”

If the student does not increase the cumulative GPA to a minimum of 2.0 during the probationary period, the student will be placed on academic suspension for three (3) months.

If a student chooses to appeal their final grade, they must follow the official grade appeal policy.

A student may also be placed on academic probation if they earn a letter grade of “F” in two (2) consecutive courses, regardless of whether their cumulative GPA is above 2.0. Once on academic probation due to two (2) consecutive “F” grades, the student must earn a grade of D- or better in their next course. If the student earns an “F” in this probationary period, they will be placed on academic suspension for three (3) months.

Students interested in being reinstated should consult the Reinstatement Policy

No grade below C- for program core courses or below D- for general education or general elective courses will be counted toward the degree.
