HLT 2010 The Impact of Individual Faith & Culture on Healthcare Access and Treatment in the United States
HLT 2010 will raise awareness and interest of students on how an individual’s faith and culture impacts their approach to healthcare in the United States. The course covers beliefs of different faiths that are perceived or real barriers for individuals who may need health services but are reluctant to pursue them. The second part of the course focuses on the structure and delivery aspects of the US healthcare industry that may not align with respecting an individual patients’ or family’s’ faith or cultural beliefs. This part of the course includes perspectives from clinical care, social norms, public health, and administration/business of healthcare organizations.
