HLT 4020 Healthcare Strategy Development, and Leadership

The course emphasizes strategic thinking, consensus building and documentation of that thinking into a strategic plan or other frameworks to move a healthcare organization forward. The development of internal and external initiatives for the organization to accomplish strategies, recognizing and accounting for regulatory, reimbursement, information systems, and management challenges is a way to connect learnings from all the courses in the program. Leadership, including change management principles are also addressed to help students recognize the importance of soft skills in healthcare organizations. Strategy is a broad concept and this course provides a structured approach to evaluate market and government forces, analyze data, challenge assumptions, develop ideas, and translate those ideas into actionable plans.
