COM 2730 Film & Television Set Operations
This course introduces students to vital roles, responsibilities, and skillsets necessary when working on professional film and television sets. Applying the concepts learned in previous Film & Television Production courses, this course expands student understanding of what to expect in a production assistant (PA) role the first time on set. Students will explore key on-set roles and responsibilities (and the various departments), the hierarchy of the set, set-etiquette (do’s and don’ts), communicating on set (including walkie lingo), general shooting processes (scouting, rehearsals, walk-throughs, and filming), and how to read and understand vital on-set documents (call sheet, shooting schedule, etc.). Upon successful completion of this course, students will be equipped to work in a production assistant role or similar entry-level position on a professional film or television set.
