COM 3280 Cinematography & Lighting
This course immerses students in the roles of the cinematographer and reinforces professional and safety standards expected on the film set. Students will engage in hands-on projects using advanced lighting and camera technique and will use technology to craft and create visual images as communicated by the director and production designer. Topics include color, tone, shadows, depth-of-field, shot selection, framing, angles, and more. With a focus on visual storytelling, students will create lighting and camera plans according to a script and director’s notes. Students will produce samples of their work employing various lighting and camera techniques learned in the class.
