MCM 3340 Advanced Songwriting Technique for Performance

Continued studies on advanced principles of songwriting, including: elements of writing melody; melodic structure; lyric form-understanding verse/chorus /bridge structures; melodic style; lyric style - gospel to classical, southern gospel to praise and worship and country to rock 'n roll; and co-writing lyrics with other musicians. Special attention is given to writing songs for specific performance purposes. Students are required to participate in the Songwriter's Showcase presented by the SOMWA each semester.
